Growing up, I clearly remember my mother always getting facials, or walking around the house wearing mud masks on her face, and even using a facial steamer on a regular basis. I can remember rolling my eyes at her, thinking she was crazy because I couldn’t understand why she was constantly doing something to treat her skin.
Well…unfortunately, I understand very clearly now why. I turned 34 a few weeks ago and in the past few years, taking care of my skin has become a top priority. As a matter of fact, I may just steal that steam machine from my mom! The reality is, in our early 20’s we don’t really think about taking care of our skin. Hell, I don’t think I even wore sunblock on my face in my early 20’s. But if I could turn back time, I would have taken care of my skin, just as well as I do now.
So, when it comes to sticking to my monthly budget, my skincare products are top priority for me. I try to use a variety of price points when it comes to moisturizers, serums, and cleansers. If you totaled up the cost of the entire routine, it’s a bit shocking. But most of the products I buy twice a year. The serums go very far, using very little. The Clarisonic is a bit pricey. I was lucky because my Mother-In-Law bought me mine, but put it on your wish list. Over the past year I have tested out a number of skincare lines and I think I have finally found a good concuction for my skin type. So before you fall asleep reading this, here is my routine. I hope this helps. And always remember, no matter what season it is, wear sunscreen!Morning Routine: 1-2. I wash my face with Chanel Le Blanc Brightening Foam Cleanser by using my Clarisonic Mia Cleansing Device. I use the Mia only once a day, as it can be very drying. And I always use it in the morning. The Chanel cleanser is one of my favorites. It helps brighten my skin and is very moisturizing. Bedtime Routine: 1. I once again wash my face with the same Chanel Le Blanc Cleanser. 2. Pay close attention to this part because you will thank my later (if you’re not already using it). Remember Retin-A from those horrific adolescent days of acne? Well, ladies, you might want to reacquaint yourself with it because it’s going to change your life. Every woman older than probably 25 (this is my opinion, not fact) should be using Retin-A. Retin-A may just be the fountain of youth we are all searching for. Using it once a day (at night only) and staying out of the sun is what is going to not only prevent, but slow down the aging process for us all. Retin-A is known to slow down the skin aging process and also remove wrinkles. I use it every night before bed. I find that if I go a few days without it, I notice a difference in my skin. And when I start using it again after a few days, I find that my skin looks amazingly healthy, supple, bright and smooth. Retin-A can be very drying and it’s extremely important to stay out of the sun when using it. The best Retin-A is a prescription strength . So talk to your doctor about it if you’re interested. ***This is all opinion and based on my own experience. 3. Then I apply my Kate Somerville Quench Serum. 4. Followed by ROC Retinol Correxion Deep Wrinkle Night Cream.
So, there you have it. I hope I have helped. It’s important for me to point out that all the information in this entry is purely my opinion and from my own experience. I do not have a medical degree and do not claim to know anything about skincare. This information comes from products I have tried and experiences I have had with skin care. Everyone’s skin is different, some more sensitive than others. So be sure to consult a medical professional before trying any of the products I listed as part of my routine.
Also, I am always open to hearing about your skincare routines and experiences, so please feel free to reply and offer advice! Thanks for your time and for reading.
