12 BEST PLACES TO EAT

I was asked by The Betsy for 5-10 restaurants locally and worldwide that I think are the BEST.  Because I love to eat out so much, I had a hard time narrowing down my choices.  So I gave them my top 12.  betsyrest

Mesa Grill: Located in the Atlantis’ exclusive Cove section and worth the trip for sure.  The food was delicious but what got me were the jewel colored glass canisters spread all over the restaurant.  There is something beautiful to look at in every corner of the room.

Freeman’s: Everything about this place is amazing.  You have to walk through a strange ally only to come upon a sweet little restaurant decorated with twinkle lights.  You then walk in to the most amazing, rustic restaurant decorated with cool taxidermy and amazing wide plank floors.  The food was amazing.  Get the Mac & Cheese!

Prezo: This is one of my favorite local places.  I love to go here whether I am celebrating a special event, having drinks with the girls, or simply just don’t feel like cooking.  My two favorites things are the boneless buffalo tenders and the chocolate chip bread pudding.

Alicante: Another one of my favorite local places to dine.  I love to get a seat overlooking the lake.  And I never leave without ordering the Berenjena, which is eggplant stuffed with cheese or the Rigatoni con Pollo.

Dos Camino’s: Mexican food will never be the same for you once you’ve dined at Dos Camino’s.  My favorite part is when you take kids there, they give them not only crayons to color, but also cool colored twine to make bracelets.  It keeps them occupied while I enjoy a cocktail with the CFO.

Stanton Social: This place is chic from top to bottom.  The lights, the walls, the tables and chairs….everything here is cool.  Don’t leave without getting the French Onion Soup Dumplings.

Massimino’s: Located in Boston’s North End, this place is the quintessential North End eatery.  Eating here is nothing short of a nostalgic experience for anyone with Italian roots.  The staff is warm, and welcoming, and may even tell you to finish what’s on your plate (just kidding), just like being at my grandmother’s as a kid.  Anything with red sauce is amazing here.  It’s truly one of my favorite places to dine.

Bison County: I was introduced to Bison County when my dear friend Rich worked there a few years back.  It’s located on Waltham’s energetic Moody Street.  The chicken wings and turkey tips are both plates I dream about on a regular basis….both doused in Carolina Sauce.

Buff’s Pub: There is no place on earth that does wings like Buff’s Pub.  This is the place you go when you’re in the mood for wings.  It’s located about 35 minutes east of my house, yet I’ve driven there more than once for take out.  Get the fries, too!

Red Parrot:  There’s nothing better than spending the day on First Beach in Newport, showering up, and heading to the Red Parrot for dinner.  Especially if you are lucky enough to get a window seat overlooking Thames Street.  The food is amazing, the drinks are delish and the atmosphere is everything.

La Cantina: As a kid, I remember my parents taking us here when they didn’t feel like cooking.  And twenty-something years later, I am still eating here…now with my own kids.  La Cantina is known for the salad dressing.  In fact, you can get it in most grocery stores.  I love to dip my bread in the dressing and then eat every bit of chicken parm on my plate.  I never make plans to go anywhere but home (on the couch) after going to La Cantina, simply because you’re guaranteed to leave there full and happy.

Davio’s: Atmosphere is everything and Davio’s in Boston hit the mark.  You really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu here.  But make sure you get the Philly Cheese Steak Spring Rolls.  This is quintessential fine dining.
